The Silence is Deafening Around Here

We haven't heard anything on the adoption front for a bit now. Silence. It is disturbing. As Americans, we expect to hear something, we expect progress, we expect updates. Preferrably texted to us or e-mailed in real time. But t.i.h (this is Haiti).

We are stuck in the black hold of Haitian adoption--IBESR. It is during this step that the President of Haiti has to sign off on our adoption. This is because we don't meet the letter of the 1974 Haitian adoption law. (we have children, which is not allowed). Bascially, the President has to sign that it's okay for us to adopt, even though we have children. The average time frame here is 6 months, but I have seen many, many families stuck here for up to 18 months. I pray that our time frame is average. :)

We went into IBESR on Sept 12th; so our exit could be as soon as March 12th. Not too likely to be sooner, but we are continuing to pray about that. God knows what we need, and exactly when we need it.

We do still owe the agency $1,000 and will have to come up with the monies to travel to Haiti for court as soon as we exit IBESR. (Around $1500). Other final fees include $700 to USCIS (for Jeff, we've already paid Kerme's fee) and $800 for Visas (yes friends, that is all paid to the U.S. gov't), as well as about $2000 for our "home coming trip". Air travel to Haiti is not cheap, and we will be bringing back two boys with us!!!!

Please pray with us that God will provide for all of these final expenses. We know that He has already been so good to us and has met each of our needs as they have arisen. We also understand that His timing is the best timing.

If I got to decide, they would be here June 1st--just in time for summer vacation! So I will pray to that end, with the full knowledge that we are likely looking at fall 2013 at the soonest. Please pray with us.

Lastly, please pray for our boys' hearts. It must be hard to be in a place waiting and knowing that you have a family in the U.S. and not understanding why they are not coming for you. Kerme doesn't understand, but Jeff might. Please pray that their hearts remain soft, that they bond with us readily when they come home and during our next trip.

Please pray that the next trip (the court trip) is very soon!
