The "Book"

So we have been waiting (per our agency's report) for a couple of months for the "BOOK" where the official death certificate was recorded for Jeff's mother to be brought from Cabaret (where she lived, and where our boys live) to Port-Au-Prince for the U.S. embassy to view. This serves as absolute proof that the death certificate is in fact authentic.

Due to some political and legal wrangling (and the fact that the book is located in a town about 1 hour from Port-Au-Prince), the agency facilitator has had to go to a lot of effort and use finesse in handling this situation. As of Thursday, there is an agreement between the office which holds the "book" for Cabaret and our agency facilitator. Our agency will pick up the book, transport it to Port-Au-Prince for viewing by the embassy and then return it. This will satisfy the embassy and takes the effort off of the office in Cabaret which is in charge of the book.

Ultimately, our prayer is that once this happens, the U.S. embassy will approve our petition and send our file on to the U.S. Consular Section for a Visa appointment. Once that is set, we will know a date to pick up the boys.

The end is in sight my friends, the end is in sight. Please pray that all goes well this week with the transporting of the book, and that tempers remain calm and even. Please pray that the utmost care is taken and this is done expediantly, and that the U.S. embassy issues our approval before Thursday. (Friday is a holiday in Haiti).

Meanwhile, I'm going to buy shoes, the carseat and wash my boys' bedding. Because they're coming home friends. :)
