Not much longer now. Only 11 days until our sweet boys go to the U.S. Embassy in Haiti for their VISA appointment.
We started this journey in June 2011...when we opened our hearts to the possibility. By fall we had begun preparing our dossier. A whole lot of changes and red tape later we are finally here....to the end.
Their suitcase is packed for the trip home....we are booking tickets tonight. Their rooms are ready, their beds are made. There are still gifts under the perpetual Christmas tree in our family room in the basement. It is finally done.
When starting this adoption, I had no idea how emotionally taxing it would be. At times the stress and uncertainty has been overwhelming. We have seen holidays and birthdays pass. Milestones really....from crawling and walking, running, school stuff, 1st, 2nd, 10th and 11th birthdays have come and gone.
We have faced financial uncertainty. Adoption is not for the faint of heart~~but it is also not for those who aren't willing to make sacrifices, beg, borrow and steal from their own retirements to make it happen!
There have been seasons when it looked like they were never coming home. Thank you JESUS for making it real. Thank you for putting this call on our lives. Thank you for speaking loudly to us both. Thank you for the love and the friendships we have gained along the way. Thank you for our boys' health and for protecting their hearts. Thank you for Mike and Bonnie Snider, who have ensured they both receive love and care daily. And thank you for bringing them home. Thank you JESUS.
