Although I am very, VERY thankful our adoption journey is almost at an end, and I in NO WAY wish to disparage the efforts of all involved to make this happen, I AM frustrated with the errors and mistakes that seem to plague the adoption process, not only on the Haitian side, but on the American.
Our boys' VISA appointment was yesterday. It should have been smooth, it should have been flawless, we should have been able to pick up Visa's by Thursday. Did it go that way? NO. Their physicals were expired by Department of State Standards. That is U.S. Department of State by the way. It is difficult for me to comprehend that the standards are so unreachable and unattainable that someone facilitating this process should not have known this.
I am even further frustrated by the fact that I asked about this very issue almost a month ago. Huh. Sounded the alarm and no one listened.
So, now we are in limbo about our official pick up date. Did we go against the professional advice issued and go ahead and purchase plane tickets? Why yes we did. We were tired of waiting!
To make a long story short, we may or may not be coming home with the boys on 3/27. It could be 3/28, it could be later. We. Just. Don't. Know.
Please pray that the physicals are ready for pick up on Thursday immediately following part 2 of the exam. Please pray that the adoption facilitators on the ground in Haiti are able to deliver the physicals to the embassy on Thursday afternoon. Please pray that we have our Visa issued by Friday so that the exit letter can be picked up on Monday or Tuesday.
That may sound like a lot, but the Bible says that with God nothing is impossible. So that's my promise to cling to today. I like it.
